We had an amazing time with family and friends while in the Keys for a family wedding, and Angler’s Reef 140 was a wonderful place to come back to at the end of our long days! We are swimmers and ocean dwellers, so to get our ocean/swimming fix, we spent some time at Sombrero Beach (about 45 min south), and we also found some of the swimming “pull offs” on the right hand side of the road, as suggested by locals!
The house itself was quite honestly the best rental house we have ever stayed at. It was impeccably clean, stocked with all the supplies/towels etc that we could ever need, and even bigger in person than it looks online! The beds were comfortable, and the appliances were top notch. We enjoyed morning coffee on the stunning wraparound decks, and even had a couple of game nights inside and outside the house as well. Steve’s communication/reply time to us was absolutely incredible – we had one minor issue along the way, and he handled it immediately, and with great care and responsiveness, keeping us fully informed daily along the way! To say we were impressed with how great Steve was during our entire trip is an understatement – we’ve never had such great communication/care from anyone we have rented from in the past!
The food at every single restaurant we went to was phenomenal – what a difference to taste the freshly cooked seafood and meats! Some of our favorite places were Marker 88 (the coconut encrusted Hogfish is incredible!), Green Turtle Inn, Wahoo’s (they have by far the BEST key lime pie!), Morada Bay, Lorelei’s, and Lazy Days. Brunch at Robbie’s was also good, but the best part there was feeding the Tarpon and Lemon Sharks off the docks!
We rented a huge private boat one day from Sundance Watersports, which took a bunch of us into the open waters for swimming, then to Alligator Reef, then to a sandbar before returning back to Robbie’s at the end of the day (BYOB, food, and music on the boat!). The captains were amazing, very accommodating, and we had an absolute BLAST spending the day in the sunshine and swimming with some yummy cocktails along the way 🙂
Overall, we had an incredible time, and if we ever go back to the Keys for a future trip, we will definitely stay at Angler’s Reef 140 again!
