Steve,
Thank you again for sharing a little piece of paradise with us! So many memories were made. The house was perfect for our family. Mason (12) was successful on numerous occasions fishing from the pier. From snapper, barracuda to nurse sharks he enjoyed being able to walk right outside and put a rod in the water. The house location was ideal – overlooking the ocean and the pier and yet a close walk to the pool but far enough away so that it was amazingly quiet and peaceful.
We loved the diving Museum- they have a scavenger hunt for kiddos and was very interactive. We chartered 2 offshore fishing trips and they definitely didn’t disappoint! 1st day the family caught 6 yellow tail Jacks and 15 yellow tail snapper. The 2nd day Mason reeled in a swordfish and Ryan caught some nice Mahi. We cooked our catch and the kitchen was well equipped for an incredible swordfish and snapper dinner. We left some San Antonio Fiesta spices!
Ella (8) and I were at the pool every day. The grounds were meticulously well cared for including the pool area. The pool chairs made for an incredible view of watching the boats come in for the day.
Although there were several houses that were undergoing improvements, it didn’t bother us at all. They were truly respectful and upkeep has to be done! (My parents have an oceanfront house and rent it out and I completely understand the amount of upkeep is ALOT more than people understand because of the saltwater.)
I love to cook but sometimes we ventured out! While the boys were out deep sea fishing the 2nd day we ate our favorite breakfast place Mangrove mikes! Of course some also memorable mentions- Lazy Days, Turtle Inn, Badboy Burritos! Needless to say we have fallen in love with Islamorada and we will be back!
